How Does Electricity Get To Every Home And Office?

How-Does-Electricity-Get-To-Every-Home-And-Office

We all so conveniently use electricity every single day, right from the moment we wake up, to the time we go to bed, in the form of tube lights, bulbs, fans, air condition, television, refrigerator, microwave oven, chargers, and so much more. In fact, we use electricity even while we sleep, with the fan, air condition, or heater on; and the appliances like refrigerator still running in the background 24×7. But, this one-switch task that is so convenient for us to on and off, have you ever wondered who is responsible for this huge task!? Have you ever wondered who invented all these appliances, and even more, who invented electricity to power all of them up? Have you ever wondered what life was before these lights and fans came into existence? And, have you ever wondered where this electricity comes from?

How was electricity invented?

Well, electricity in reality is not a discovery or invention; rather, it has been on earth since the beginning of time, in the form of static electricity. But, it was William Gilbert, in 1660, who realized this and described the electrification of many subjects, coining the term “electricity”. Thereafter, many scientists, over the years, experimented with this static electricity, but it was Benjamin Franklin, in 1752, who with his many experiments, concluded that electricity has positive and negative elements, between which electricity flows. This invention then changed lives. Many scientists, after this invention, studied electricity and its forms for hundreds of years, and it was in 1879, when Thomas Edison created the first light bulb! So, the next time whenever you’re turning on or off your electricity switch, don’t forget to thank Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Edison for some of the best inventions on Earth!

How does electricity power up our home?

Now, the question that still remains is where this electricity comes from, and how does it power up every home and office? So, it all begins at a generating station, where huge generators use wind, coal, natural gas, or water to generate electricity. This electricity is then sent through transformers to increase the voltage of the current so that it can travel very long distances. Those large transmission lines you see stretching across the country carry this high-voltage electrical charge to distribute the electricity generated. But, because such high-voltage current cannot be used within a home or office, it is first sent to a substation, where the voltage is lowered, so that it can be sent on smaller power lines. Once lowered, it is then sent through distribution lines to the residential and commercial areas. Here, smaller transformers are installed to further reduce the voltage to make the power safe for usage within homes and offices. These current from here then passes through a meter to reach your premises, which measures the amount of power you use, which then decides on your electricity bill amount that you receive every two months.

Fascinating, isn’t it? But, as easy as it may sound, it actually isn’t. There’s a lot going on to alter the current and voltage to bring to you a risk-free electricity usage within your home and office. And, one of the biggest element used here is the transformers that are used between every two points to up and down the voltage as required. The voltage is increased to help the electricity travel long distances, and then lowered to power up your homes and offices without any overload. Step-up and step-down transformers are used here to up and down the voltages respectively. It is only good quality power transformers in India, from genuine manufacturers, that can help fault-free and risk-free electricity within your space. This is why only trusted manufacturers like Miracle Electronics  are approached for the same. Every transformer manufactured here offers efficient and fault-free electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution.
